The KŌPŪ ARIKI Flag represents the collective identity of the Gathering of the Whare Ariki and serves as the unifying flag of Te Kōtahitanga.

During KŌPŪ ARIKI gatherings, the KŌPŪ ARIKI Flag is raised at the centre, with the flags of each participating Whare Ariki flown beneath it.

The KŌPŪ ARIKI Flag represents IO, and all other Whare Ariki fly beneath IO, Supreme Creator. 

This arrangement symbolises Te Kōtahitanga—the unity, mutual respect, cooperation, and shared purpose of participating Whare Ariki—while recognising that each Whare Ariki retains its own identity, traditions, and responsibilities.

Together, the flags represent the strength found in unity, the enduring relationships between Whare Ariki, and their shared commitment to the wellbeing of Aotearoa, Te Moana Nui a Kiwa, Te Ao Mārama, and Ngā Rangitūhāhā.
